Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018)

Pacific Rim: Uprising is a science fiction and action film released in 2018, a sequel to the 2013 film Pacific Rim. Directed by Steven S. DeKnight, this film continues the story of the war between humans and giant monsters called Kaiju.

The plot of Pacific Rim: Uprising continues after the events of the first part, when the world is still recovering from the war against the Kaiju. In a world where people no longer fear outside danger, our protagonists face a new threat. As a Jaeger pilot (giant robots controlled by humans to fight Kaiju), Jake Pentecost, son of Stacker Pentecost – a heroic character from the first part, begins his journey to find Find a way to wash your hands of the burden of the past and prove your worth.

While a new threat emerges, Jake must team up with a young female agent named Amara Namani, a self-taught engineer with a desire to fight the Kaiju. Together, the two train and improve an old Jaeger named Gypsy Avenger, to be ready to fight the Kaiju and this new threat.

However, Jake and his teammates quickly realize that the Kaiju are not the only threat. Inside the Jaeger program, there is betrayal and conspiracy by those who want to use Jaeger for their own purposes. The fight against the Kaiju becomes more complicated than ever as they face both internal and external enemies.

One of the highlights of Pacific Rim: Uprising is the Jaeger battles against the Kaiju, done with top-notch visual effects and a non-stop amount of action. From fierce battles between Jaegers and Kaiju, to breathtaking chases across urban areas, the film constantly brings eye-catching action scenes to the audience.

In addition, Pacific Rim: Uprising also raises questions about courage, responsibility and sacrifice for a goal larger than oneself. The main characters face a difficult decision between protecting the world and protecting their own lives.

However, despite the positive elements, Pacific Rim: Uprising also encountered some criticism for the plot feeling a bit lackluster compared to the first part and the lack of full character development. Some viewers felt that the film lacked depth in exploring the psychological and human aspects of the story.

In short, Pacific Rim: Uprising continues to be an entertaining film with unique action scenes and a vast sci-fi world. Although it did not achieve the same success as the first part in attracting and pleasing all audiences, it is still worth watching for those who love action and science fiction films.
